Summary
I made this with cheap 3 pin rotary encoders in mind. I had a couple lying around and the thing I remixed from was the first one that worked off the bat.
It's a great design and very robust and, so far i haven't had any false notifications from it.

There are two variants one for mounting on a wall or an extrusion and another for mounting on my direct drive hot end.
The different versions are different mounting options and currently V3 of both is what i am using.
There are two different wheels for the different size springs that you have available.

PLA will work but PETG is better closer to the hot end.
The Wheel must be out of TPU
Post-Printing
Wiring is simple:
10K Resistor on pin one and the sensor wire
+5v on the other side of the 10k
Ground on the middle pin. The third pin is not necessary as direction is not relevant in this case.

1 x 608 Bearing
1 x M6x25 Screw for mounting bearing. Use washer between plastic and bearing.
4 x M4x20 Cap screws
2 Pieces of PTFE tube, size to own liking.
