Saw those set of firework effect LEDs on amazon, but they looked cheap in quality. For the same price of roundabout 30€ I get all high quality parts and WLED control.
- WS2812B 4-5m
- ESP8622 or 32, or any MCU you like
- 14ps of 3pin SM JST connectors
- 5V power supply
- prototype board for junction
I soldered one male connector to 11 of the female connectors via the prototype board and glued down the female connectors to the ports, looking outward and the board with the soldered junctions into the middle.
It starts at one strip, connected to a power supply and an ESP/MCU via an SM JST connector. From there (floor) it runs up to the mounted base. There, it connects his female connector as output into the male connector as input. The junction now splits the power and signal into all 11 female outputs. LED strips run the animation in synchrony outwards from thereon.
The endpoints can be clued to the end of the strip and mounted via screw/nail onto a wall. The Cover has two parts, since I printed the outer ring in transparent for more covering but still light shinning through.
Be aware that all power for the 11 strips will be going through the first strip like this. Eventually you want to run a power line into the base and do a power injection or limit the power in WLED to the max rating of the strip. With that, a second data line is also an idea, if you want a second channel for every second strip, to display asynchron animations.
Furthermore, material and picture will be added. It's already built, but not in action. Got the ESP32-C3 crashed by trying to fix the bootloader. Device is not at mine rn.
It's an open project (hence the 0. namenig). Would love to see remixes and own attempt of recreating those installations.
