I wanted to test the limits of spiral vase mode printing and see if including a regular working spiral-shaped spring in the print is possible in this mode. Voila, it is possible and here is the proof!

 

I added a disc on Buddy's head to increase balance in the finished print and adhesion; you shouldn't need a brim (or supports which are illegal in spiral vase mode anyway). For those who can't use the Mini+ gcode, do note that the first 40 layers need to be solid layers so that face details show up nicely. This print stands more than 70mm tall and uses only 2g of filament and prints in 46 minutes on a Prusa Mini+ with a 0.4mm nozzle at 0.1mm layer height.

One potential issue you could face is that the springiness really starts to manifest itself towards the end of the print so the bottom (which is printed last since this print is essentially printed upside down) may look a little wonky because the spring adds upward pressure but it should still turn out OK. Use some blue tack or foam double-sided tape (or some similar adhesive) to mount this on your vehicle's dashboard and watch it wobble (when you're stopped safely, of course).
