"Cab" for converting an Athearn "GP9" into a GP9B B-unit. Note that this thing is unlikely to work on locomotives with a scale width hood. Though sold as a GP9, my understanding is that this shell actually more closely resembles a GP7.

Equivalents of this thing are available commercially. Though haven't yet, am planning to smooth the print with filler putty prior to printing.

As in the prototype, the roof of this thing is not aligned with that of the front or rear hoods.

A designed support is included (in a separate STL as well as combined with the thing itself in the 3MF file).

The thing can be printed with an 0.4 mm nozzle, but looks better printed with an 0.2 mm nozzle.

Specified "inside" brim in Cura for improved bed adhesion. The resulting brim is not attached to any visible portion of the final part.

Print turned out better when printed with the walls at a 45 degree angle to the bed X and Y axes.

A 15/64 inch drill bit works well for cleaning up the portholes.

The fit to the shell is deliberately tight; custom fitment (e.g. sanding) will likely be necessary.

Incorporating the access doors into the print did not turn out well. Am planning to model the access doors in styrene instead.
