Reduced depth handwheel which allows for the addition of a needle thrust bearing between the handwheel and the lathe body.  Greatly improves cross-slide and longitudinal feed feel.  No binding and allows for a smooth consistent feed.

It's best if you get the center heat insert as straight as possible, but it seems to turn smoothly even if off a few degrees.
