Fully parametric pipe clip. This clip is designed to be clamped on a pipe of given radius, then mounted on a surface using two screws. The surface should have a cutout that accommodates the protruding part of the pipe. The clip can be printed on any of its sides without supports (*). This allows you to control distribution of forces in order to prevent layer separation. I like to print the clip lying on its side, which is the default orientation when you download the file. As this is a functional part I recommend printing in PETG, not in PLA.
I provide the FreeCAD source file so you can fully customize this pipe clip. All parameters are set in the "values" spreadsheet. If you choose inconsistent parameters FreeCAD will usually show errors and will not recompute the part. Refer to the attached PDF drawing as reference for the parameter names. The drawing has one dimension ("?" in the picture) denoting how much of the pipe would protrude into the surface material. Open the “calculated” spreadsheet to find out this value for your set of parameters. I find it useful for setting the milling depth on my router.
Print tips
This is a functional part and thus should be printed with your favorite material and settings for such parts. The following points might be helpful:
- PETG is recommended over PLA.
- Prints without supports (*).
- The part can be printed on any side. Keep force distribution and layering in mind when choosing the side to print on.
- I used a wall line count of 7 and 10 % infill (however, at this wall thickness there is barely any volume left that needs infill).
- Print time is reasonably quick for the default parameters (< 30 minutes).
(*) I did not print this clip lying on the angled side yet. If you do please let me know whether you needed supports. Also keep in mind that certain combinations of parameters could lead to designs requiring support structures.
