Summary
This is a remix of JIPyro's Steam Controller Shoulder / Bumper / Trigger Mechanism.
It has these improvements:
- adjusted all the measurements so the part can be printed and installed without needing to be heat bended
- added base for trigger spring
- added nub for the top plate
- remade the design file in FreeCAD 0.21.0 and made it easier to adjust, in case someone wants to modify it

I printed it for now in PLA and it seems fine for now, but I'll get it in PC if it breaks, as JIPyro suggested.

Finishing up the part
Printing the part with Cura's tree supports worked out moderately well, though I did need an exacto knife to clean things up.
For the holes holding the trigger button's rod, I kept them at the original 2mm and manually, very carefully enlarged them using the torx T6 bit which is used to open up the Steam Controller.
Had to be pretty careful not to enlarge them too much so the friction would keep the rod in.
How I Designed This
This being a remix of JIPyro's Steam Controller Shoulder / Bumper / Trigger Mechanism, I downloaded his FreeCAD file and started adjusting it.
First of all, the design needed to be ported to the latest FreeCad version (0.21.0) to properly support Bodies, reordering history, Datum Planes etc.
I also fully constrained the sketches, used dimension names and expressions, and based extrusions/paddings off of datum planes (to circumvent FreeCAD's topological naming problem).
The design is a lot more parametric and modifiable now, so if you want to improve on it, please go ahead.
Good:
- the bumper and trigger fully click
- the buttons' feel is 95% the same
To be improved:
- the clicks have a slightly different sound — probably partly due to PLA vs original ABS and partly slight differences in
- the trigger is marginally less springy - spring base could probably be slightly heightened
to compress the spring more - the trigger button and bumper don't perfectly align as in the original (maybe 0.5-0.25mm difference), but it's unnoticeable while normally holding or looking at the controller
