I needed a fume extractor and wanted one that was low profile for storage. This is modular, so it can be used with or without filters/intakes depending on your requirements.
- Can be powered by usb micro as uploaded or with the a fan → USB A cable (included w the fan in the BOM).
- This was designed to be attached either using the fan's self-tapping screws or with m3/m4 screws and threaded inserts in the fan.
- I believe the ‘velocity stack’ intake will have better performance, however I'm using the standard ‘intake’ due to it's size/shape/compactness.
BOM:
5v 120mm fan: Any should work, this is just what I used (comes w fan → usb adapter) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DXLCVVL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Carbon Filter: The allowed filter width is 10mm, so you can use whatever medium you'd like after cutting to fit. I used two layers of this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QTJNYJG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Optional:
USB DIP adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07W844N43/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Note: I recommend using 2x m3x4 button head screws for the USB board for clearance under the fan, as well as 4 m3x8-10 butt head screws for the filter attachment for easier filter replacement. Normal socket-cap screws may cause interference.
