Pentagon Disc Puzzle
The object of this puzzle is to stack all the discs onto the base with all 10 pegs placed inside the discs peg holes, with no pegs left over or sticking out the top or bottom. The letters on the discs are only used for naming each disc and have nothing to do with solving the puzzle.
There are 2,520 possible distinct permutations of discs, with 104 distinct solutions (4.13%). Distinct solutions are those which cannot be inverted to produce another distinct solution.
For those of you who like a more challenging puzzle, you might want to try my Heptagon Disc Puzzle. It has 17 discs, 21 pegs, and 7 holes per disc.
You will need to print the following .stl files
Disc_5A.stl, Disc_5B.stl, Disc_5C.stl, Disc_5D.stl, Disc_5E.stl, Disc_5F.stl, Disc_5G.stl
Print 1 each of the 7 discs listed above.
Peg.stl: You need to print 10 copies of this .stl file.
Pentagon_Base.stl: Print once
Pentagon_Cover.stl: Print once (Not necessary for solving the puzzle but nice to have for storage and display.)
I used the following printer setting for the Prusa MX3s+
Common settings to all stl files:
Filament: PLA
Nozzle: 0.4 mm
Layer height: 0.2 mm
Perimeters: 2
Solid layers: 6 top, 5 bottom
Fill density: 15% to 20%
Fill pattern: Grid
Elephant foot comp: 0.12 mm
Seam positions:
Pegs: aligned
Discs: aligned
Base: aligned
Cover: random
If you want to use different colored filaments as I did, here are the filament height changes for each model:
Pegs: 7.2 mm, and 9.0 mm
Base: 9.2 mm
Cover: 1.0 mm, and 1.6 mm
Discs: No color change
Support is recommended, but not necessary, at the build plate for the Assembly Cover only. The other parts need no support. (I also added a "torus" support blocker on the outside edge to save filament. It is not necessary to add this "torus".)
