Struggling to install belts on your printer and feel like you need an extra pair of hands?
Finding it hard to get both belts the same length?
Upgrading your toolhead and had to cut the belts—now running into trouble reusing them?
Introducing the FT BeltAssist Pro — a simple tool designed to hold your belts in place, making it easier to align, thread, and secure them to your linear rail.
Perfect for builds using 2020 extrusions with MGN12 linear rails.
🔧 How to Use FT BeltAssist Pro
- Mount the Tool
Attach the FT BeltAssist Pro to your 2020 extrusion with the opening facing the linear rail. - Align the Belts
Position your two 6mm belts so that they are perfectly aligned — down to the last tooth. Use the included toothed clamp to hold both belts flush and evenly. - Insert the Clamp
While keeping the belts compressed, slide the clamp into the BeltAssist Pro body to hold them in place securely. - Secure with Hammer Head Nut
Drop an M3 hammer head nut into the top slot of the extrusion — this is important as it allows for easy removal after installation.
(Avoid T-nuts here — they’ll be permanently trapped in the extrusion afterward.) - Lock It In
Align the hammer head nut under the BeltAssist Pro and lightly screw in an M3x6 bolt. This locks the assembly without over-tightening. - Repeat for the Other Side
Follow the same steps to mount a second BeltAssist Pro on the opposite end. - Tension and Install
With both tools in place, gently pull them to tension the belts, then tighten the M3x6 screws. This will hold the belts firmly in place while you install the toolhead mount to the MGN12 carriage.
Hope you find this tool helpful and appreciate the thought that went into making belt installation easier!
