I have a bunch of hex keys from various 3D printers and I wanted a holder for them that would keep the hex keys in place, but still easily removable. I also wanted it to be easy to mount/remove from a wall, tool box, or other surface. There are a ton of good designs out there, but I decided to take a slightly different approach based on a magnet. The magnet holds the hex keys in place and also acts as a mounting mechanism. I was inspired in the basic design by another model on thingiverse, but I lost track of which one. Apologies to the original author.

This holder also works with a base in my Module Tool Rail System.

I have included a Fusion 360 file which will make it easy to change which sizes are included. The model I used actually holds two sets of the smaller hex key sizes.

I used a 60 x 10 x 5 mm bar magnet which can be found many places including Amazon.

Post Printing

• I used CA glue to put the bar magnet into the slot on the back face.
• These magnets are really strong, so be careful when using them.
• The CA glue is plenty strong to keep the magnet in place and the slot is oversized to make the magnet easy to fit in.
