Summary
Small QOL part for the LaTrax Teton 1:18 scale truck.
Switching to larger 2200mah LiPO batteries made it hard to keep the battery in place while bashing around. The stock battery tray clasp could not cover the batteries so I needed a way to hold a standard battery strap to hold the batteries down.
There are two shim types included based on how long your battery strap is. The accordion shim is more compact and keeps the strap straight. If your strap is short enough this one will work better. I had a longer strap that was still too long, so I ended up making a long shim that forces the strap to take up space within the strap well and bring it down to the appropriate size to fit around the battery.
The long version is nothing special, and can easily be modified to match the length of your battery strap if it is some where between the two extremes. Its just a 3mm tall, 12mm wide solid part. Mine is 92mm long to create the appropriate slack removal.
There is a 1mm well for the molding tape to fit in, which is somewhere around 1.5mm thick. This causes it to stick out a little on the bottom and create a nice bond to the bottom of the battery tray on the truck, and can still be pulled out if you need to change out the strap, or adjust anything.
I'm including a link to the batteries I'm using for size reference, they do not appear to be available any more. They are very good batteries for the 1:18 scale though.
