I wanted to create an exciting solution of a pen holder on my office desk.
There I need just one pen which I wanted to give the respective ambience.
Perfectly fitting to the vision in my mind I found the spider model of Jason C Kessler.
The shape is remixed to better touch the ground, added by the blood and made easier to print.
The pen insert can be individualized. I have added 2 different sizes as an example.
In case you want to have a solution for more than one pen, you may also use the abdomen of the spider.
Printing Instructions
- Material: PLA or PETG is fine, for the spider you also may choose for TPU
- Infill: 15%
- Support: Is needed.
To ensure stable legs I changed the overhang limit to 55 degrees and changed the massive infill threshold to 20 mm^2 (this option in print settings is only available in advanced mode). It will enforce 100% infill for the thin legs of the spider at the initial layers.
For penholder-blood.stl I increased the model to 100.3% which compensates the printing tolerances and will lead to an easy fit.
Assembly Instructions
- Print the spider in black or dark grey
- Print the blood and the insert of your choice in red
- Glue them together
