Joe Wingbermuehle has written maze generators in many languages - http://joewing.net/projects/maze/ -; a nice project worth a look. The program in fortran, maze.f90, is easily converted to make input for openSCAD's surface command.

Output from maze.f90 and openSCAD code for the box and lids are included.

To change maze.f90 to make input for openSCAD's surface command change maze.f90's output symbols from '[]' and ' ' to '4 4 4 4 ' and '2 2 2 2 ' and output each line four times.
