(We, nor this design or print has anything to do with Subaru or it's affiliates.)
Sometimes you just want a simple toy without complex detail and prints easily. I love this design for its simplicity and accurate representation of an engine that many hobbyists have come to love dearly.
This Subaru boxer engine fidget toy is re-hosted and remixed with a bit more technical detail about the pattern. This remix is more like a true Subaru boxer engine with separated rod journals and 5 main bearing points. It's a little oblong, but prints easily. The clearance between the pistons and cylinder walls is very tight. If you scale the motor in a slicer program like Cura along the z axis it prints and rotates more easily. I have still ended up popping the pistons loose out of the cylinder and massaging them so the crank rotates more freely.
PLA or PLA+ filament is all I've tested.
.2-.3mm layer height.
10-20% infill.
30 mm/s speed
.6mm nozzle can work with good filament and settings (.4mm recommended)
