Overview:
My son loves water sports, so he is typically in charge of our in-laws boat when we go to their cabin. He struggled to fish the boat cover straps under the boat while it was on the hoist in the lake, so I made him this attachment to fit onto a painter’s pole. Simply insert the strap into the hook’s slot, then feed the strap under the boat to one of his brother’s who can then buckle it to the other side of the strap.
I’ve included my Fusion 360 file and step file if you want to customize it for different sizes of straps. It threads onto any standard pole that uses ACME ¾ x 5 tpi threads such as painter’s poles. I used my ACME ¾ x 5 tpi thread adapters and definition to model this. The files and info can be found here:
Printing:
I printed ours in PLA which has worked fine. PETG or ASA would be a little better. I typically use 4-7 walls for these attachments, but 3 would be sufficient for light duty tasks. No supports required if printed in the orientation shown.
