MS243 Zuma Line – Night Mode Light Dimmer Inserts
Description:
The MS243 Zuma Line lamp has a very bright night mode, which can be uncomfortably intense in a dark room.
This 3D printed insert set was designed to softly dim the light and make it more pleasant without modifying the lamp itself.
The printed pieces fit neatly into the small channel located under the translucent rectangular covers of the lamp.
Assembly Instructions:
- Remove the translucent rectangular cover from the lamp.
- Inside, you’ll find a narrow channel — that’s where the printed inserts go.
- Connect the individual parts together using super glue or another cyanoacrylate adhesive (e.g., Kropelka).
- The middle part requires a filament change during printing (e.g., via the AMS system) to achieve a dimming effect.
Suggested Colors and Materials:
- Print the main parts in white filament to match the lamp body.
- The middle dimming element should be printed using a combination of black and white filament to create a soft light-filtering effect.
- Recommended material: PETG or ABS (for better temperature and light resistance).
Print Settings:
- Technology: FDM
- Layer height: 0.2 mm
- Infill: 15–25%
- Brim/Raft: optional
- Print time: approx. 2–3 hours (depending on printer and settings)
Notes:
The inserts are fully reversible — they can be easily removed if you want to restore the lamp to its original brightness. No permanent modifications are required.
Why I Made It:
After purchasing the Zuma Line MS243 lamp, I discovered that its night mode was far too bright for comfortable use.
Instead of disabling the feature, I designed these simple 3D inserts to reduce the light intensity while keeping the lamp’s clean, elegant appearance and straightforward installation.
