I lived in San Diego, CA when the city celebrated it's 200th anniversary in 1969. It was a pretty big deal as I remember with may celebrations and parades. A schoolmate's dad, France Carpentier, painted the official poster and a signed copy was given to my mom. Sadly, it is long gone, no idea what happened to it. I was able to find a reproduction of the artwork and the commemorative coin that were given out. I wanted to have a 3D printable coin replica but had no way to scan the coin. I uploaded a photo to various AI modeling sites but none would get the lettering right. I settled for the best representation of the two figures and used MeshMixer to remove the lettering from the AI generated model. I used CorelDraw to draw each letter and number character onto a photo of the coin, tracing the outlines. I exported the letters as a DXF and extruded them in Fusion 30. I went back to MeshMixer and joined the letters and numbers into the coins surface, resizing and rotating as necessary before the join operation. I'm okay with the result but I wish I had the tools and knowledge to have a slight taper to the sides of the letters and numbers to give the model more of a "casting" appearance instead of the harsh squared off look it currently has. I included in the downloads the DXF and Fusion 360 files for the lettering if anyone can help me out and take a stab at it. Please export an a single STL file. The original coin is 1.553 inches in diameter. I sized the 3D printable coin to 2.00 inches as that is the smallest I can print and have all of the lettering intact with my 0.4 nozzle. I'm sure it could be printed smaller with the smaller nozzle sizes. Ironing all top layers and adaptive layers really help the top finish.
