Introduction to the Remote-Controlled Smart Pickup Truck Project
I. Design Inspiration
Inspired by the retro mini pickup truck’s body design, this project features a custom 3D‑modeled structure combined with an integrated 3D‑printed shell. By blending the classic pickup truck aesthetic with an embedded remote-controlled vehicle, it delivers both a realistic visual appeal and smart operational capabilities. It is ideal for electronics and robotics hands-on training as well as DIY robot building, allowing users to freely add sound and light accessories, making it equally engaging for play and learning.
II. Structure and Hardware Configuration
The entire vehicle body is manufactured via 3D printing, comprising a driver’s cabin, a cargo bed, and a four-wheel drive mechanism. Inside, it houses a complete set of drive components: an ESP8266 microcontroller handles wireless signal reception and overall vehicle logic; an SG90S servo motor paired with a gear assembly enables front-wheel steering; and TT motors power the rear wheels for forward motion. Power is supplied by a 14500 lithium battery, controlled by a boat‑type switch, with DuPont wires connecting all circuits. Additionally, expansion slots are provided, allowing users to easily attach external peripherals such as buzzers or LED lights to enhance functionality.
III. Functions and Use Cases
Powered by the ESP8266, this vehicle supports Wi‑Fi–based remote control, enabling forward, backward, left-turn, and right-turn maneuvers. Its spacious cargo bed can store batteries and electronic components while also accommodating small items. With additional attachments, it can produce horn sounds and illuminate LED lights.
