Electric Filament Feeder
-
Structural Design The entire housing and all transmission gear components are manufactured via 3D printing. The housing consists of a main body, a cover plate, and a gear assembly. A DC geared motor serves as the power source, driving filament feed through gear meshing. The housing features pre-drilled mounting holes for screw fastening, with a well-organized part separation that eliminates the need for supports during printing.
-
Operating Principle The motor drives the drive gear, which, in conjunction with the driven gear, clamps the 3D‑printing filament. When powered on, the gears rotate at a constant speed, delivering the filament steadily. The clearance between the mating gears has been carefully engineered to provide optimal gripping force without slippage, making it compatible with standard 1.75 mm filaments.

Application Value This device can be integrated with a 3D printer to enable automated filament feeding, providing convenient material supply. It is also ideal for makers seeking to explore gear‑driven mechanisms, facilitating hands-on learning of mechanical structures and fitting tolerances. Additionally, users can optionally pair it with an ESP‑32 module to create a controllable, variable-speed automated filament feeder.
