This wall‑mountable rack is the ultimate way to turn a cluttered bench into a clean, high‑density storage grid for your 70×70×25 mm small‑parts boxes. This is a wall mountable rack for 70x70x25mm small parts boxes. Nick Johnson makes an excellent version with a print-in-place clamshell lid. It should also work with Josh-3D's Small Parts boxes.

I decided to get organized, and to standardize on the clamshell parts boxes. This is my way to organize them - out of the way - on the wall. 

This model is designed to be wall-mounted with Command strips (from 3M). There are multiple types of Command strips. This model works best with the picture hanging kind. The picture hanging Command strips have an adhesive side, with foam backing, and a mechanical interlocking side, similar to Velcro. They are used by pressing TWO strips together so the interlocking sides mate. When they are pressed together, they are a bit thicker than 3 mm. 

This model has a recess in the back that is designed to accommodate command strips. When two strips that are pressed together are attached in this recess, the strips will still stick out of the back of the model by a bit more than 1 mm, so they make good contact with the wall. 

Poster hanging strips are much thinner and should not be used.

Command strips are rated to hold 4 pounds (1.81 kg) per pair when used correctly. So if you use one pair at each corner of this rack, you should be able to safely hold 16 pounds (more than 7 kg). That is quite a lot of bolts and screws. 

You can use the screw holes to handle your wall mount if that is what you prefer. I just don't want to fix the holes in my wall later. 

This model is based upon Nick Johnson's Wall Rack for Clamshell Parts Box. I used the configurator to generate a 3x8 box. Then I thickened the backplane and carved out recesses to accommodate Command strips. I also added top and bottom walls to stiffen the whole thing.
