This project adds a service hatch to the Qidi Box similar to the V2 design. The hatch allows easy access for maintenance.
Overview
- 3D Model: The included service-hatch-mount.stl and service-hatch-mount.FCStd files are designed for a the mounting frame.
- Material: Print the frame in ASA for heat and chemical resistance.
- Images: See the images/ folder for installation photos.
Steps
- Measure and Cut the Hatch Hole
- Use the feed circles as a reference.
- Cut a hole sized 21.5 x 26.5 cm in the box using an oscillating multi-tool.
- Print the Mounting Frame
- Print 3d-model/service-hatch-mount.stl in ASA.
- Insert threaded inserts into the screw holes (cut inserts in half if too tall).
- Glue the Frame
- Use a cyanoacrylate super glue with activator spray (e.g., "Loctite Super Glue with Activator") to bond the frame to the box.
- Prepare the Cut Plate
- Drill out the screw holes in the cut-out plate.
- Mount the plate using screws into the threaded inserts.
Notes
- ASA filament is recommended for durability and heat resistance.
- Threaded inserts may need to be shortened for proper fit.
- Cyanoacrylate glue with activator spray provides a strong, quick bond.
