This model was initially imagined to improve the use of my Insect Water Station (IWS) model. Indeed it's a great model, but it needs a flat surface to be effective, so it can be tricky to find an adequate spot. Typically, the ground is often uneven in places where insects usually hang out: like near flowers in the garden. This spike model helps with this, it allows to hold most polygon shaped models (depending on the chosen angle) flat, disregarding the evenness or slope of the soil beneath. The small and the big hex variants will work with their respective IWS model size.
This model can also hold some of my simple trays models for example, for which I also have added a square-angle variant.
The fusion file is provided would you want to adjust the parameters, see how it's done or simply edit the model easily. Note that due to some issues on printables it had to place it inside a zip for now.
Printing information:
All the parts come in the right position for printing.
Use regular supports to support the floating spike.
As these spikes are meant to be used in soil they will probably be in wet conditions, I recommend using non porous materials like PETG or ASA to print them.
You can only print 3 of the hex-shaped variants, but I recommend 4 for the square-shaped one.
Note that the bigger variants are more complicated to spike into the ground, depending on its hardness of course, so you might need to use gardening skills/tools and to fiddle a bit.
