After installing a few of these panic bars, I realized how long it took to measure the drill locations to install these on fresh doors. So I made a little template to speed up the process. Now you only need to find the center point and latch point. I'm sure that (aside from the mounting holes for this bar) this will also work for other brands and models of concealed/internal latching panic bars. I hope this helps someone else out there :)
If you have any issues with it or suggestions let me know.
NOTE!!!!!
Although all of the measurements are taken directly from the manual:
Remember to ALWAYS double check the measurements BEFORE cutting/drilling!!!!!!!
I don't wanna hear that you absolutely mangled some client's glass door because you blindly trusted some random person on the internet to do your measurements for you ;)
The smaller rod guide has 4 holes, 2 vertical, and 2 horizontal:
The two horizontal holes are for the lower hex type rod. Just line up the bottom of the guide with the bottom of the door and mark your holes. You can do the same for the "rod type" lower rod by simply marking the vertical holes.
For the upper bar do the same thing, except use the top of the guide (with the latch cutout on top) and mark the two vertical holes.
The smaller holes are only supposed to be used for marking the center drill point.
The larger "cut out" guide is exact so that you can mark and cut on the outside of your marks so you don't have to worry about wiping off your marker later :)
If you want you can send me photos of other guides that you want made and I'll do my best try to make them too.
I get bored easily and like doing this stuff so :p
If you know of other models that this guide works with, let me know :) I'm still pretty new to this field of work.
