The Perfect Croissant, Standardized.
Making croissants from scratch is a labor of love, but the hardest part for me is nailing the exact geometry: getting perfectly straight edges, maintaining consistent dough thickness, and cutting identical triangles. As a result, I designed (with help from Claude) this suite of tools specifically around the King Arthur Baking Baker's Croissants [recipe](https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/bakers-croissants-recipe), but it will work for almost any standard homemade laminated dough.
What’s Included in the Set:
The 8x8" (203x203mm) Butter Block Frame (12mm thick): A rigid mold to mash your butter/flour mixture into a flawless 8-inch square. (Pro-tip: Line the frame with a large sheet of plastic wrap first. Once the butter chills, use the plastic wrap tails to lift the perfect block right out of the mold!)
Dovetail Thickness Rails (12mm & 5mm): These 218mm long rails snap together end-to-end to create a track for your rolling pin. Use the 12mm rails during the lamination turns (folding the butter into the dough), and the 5mm rails for the final roll-out. You will never have uneven dough again.
The 4x9" (101x228mm) Triangle Cutting Template: A two-piece dovetailed template that gives you the exact dimensions for the final croissants. It even features a 1-inch slot at the base so you can easily cut the crucial "notches" required for proper stretching and rolling.
Square-Up Corner Brackets: Four L-shaped brackets you can place on your counter to create a target footprint (like 20"x10" or 13"x18"), giving you a physical boundary to push your dough corners into.
Print Instructions & Layout:
Even though these are large baking tools, the entire set can be printed on TWO plates on a standard 220x220mm bed (like an Ender 3, Bambu A1/P1, or Flashforge).
Plate 1 (The Rails): Lay all eight rails perfectly parallel to each other. They are narrow enough that they will fit side-by-side with 1-2mm gaps between them.
Plate 2 (The Frame & Fill): Interlock the two L-shaped Butter Frame halves to form a square border along the outer edges of your build plate. Then, take the Triangle Template halves and the Corner Brackets and nest them tightly inside the empty center of the butter frame! (Make sure there is a tiny physical gap in the slicer between the frame dovetails so they fuse perfectly together via first-layer squish into a solid permanent frame).
Recommended Settings:
Material: PETG is highly recommended over PLA. While PLA is fine for brief contact with cold dough and not very good with warm water washing, PETG will survive warm, soapy dishwater much better without warping and the cold butter without much issue!
Walls/Perimeters: 3 to 4. You want the rails to be rigid so they don't flex when a heavy rolling pin rides over them.
Infill: 15% Gyroid is plenty.
Supports: None required! Everything prints flat on the bed.
