Required materials

• 8 pieces of 6x3mm N35 magnets
• 8 pieces of 5x3mm N35 magnets
• Optional: Fiberglass PTFE tape, used to reduce friction
• Glue or double-sided tape, used for the lid

Assemble

Place the magnets into their slots. The 6x3mm magnets should be placed on the edges, and the 5x3mm magnets should be placed inside. If you want a lower friction feel, you can apply some Teflon fiberglass tape to the surface and trim it with scissors. Close the lid, but don't fasten it yet—you might need to make adjustments first. Once you're satisfied, you can press it into place, glue it, or use double-sided tape to secure it.

Adjust the volume

This is the interesting part. When you first get your hands on it, if you place the magnets loosely in the holes, they'll jiggle and make a crisp clicking sound. If the sound is too loud, you can glue the magnets in place, and the noise will be much quieter. Want it even quieter? Before closing the lid, place a small piece of tissue paper over the magnets. Basically, you can adjust it to any effect from crisp and loud to almost silent.
