This is a bracket to hold the Mazda BT50 and Ford Ranger (P4AT, P5AT Engines) oil pump in place against the oil pump pulley so that the replacement pump is installed with the same alignment to ensure the chain is not pulled on an angle. The tool is needed if you are replacing the problematic OEM vane oil pump with a standard oil pump. I highly recommend doing so if you have one of these cars as the pump we removed as 6 years old and very close to failing (vanes were heavily worn, see picture).

I'd recommend CNC'ing this out of aluminum or steel, I used PETG and whilst it did kind of hold, the plastic allowed the bracket to move (slid against the holding bolts) during installation. Maybe if I was more careful it may not have occurred however the space to remove the oil pump is quite small.

Anyway, the design fits perfectly, dimensionally the part is perfect. If you print this to use it, be mindful that if you choose to print this in plastic it may move if too much pressure is applied.

As for the oil pump installation process, removing the oil pan was quite challenging, we ended up using lots of razor blades and several large pry bars to break the pan seal. The power steering rack is then in the way so the bolts need to be removed to allow the pan to be rotated 90degrees and finally slide out. The 4x4 versions of these cars might be a bit more challenging as it appears the transfer case might further block the oil pan. The replacement oil pump requires a M8x15mm bolt to be placed where the banjo bolt was to block it off, otherwise the rest is a direct swap. The oil pump may appear stuck at first but it sides to the passenger side of the engine and drops enough to be able to remove the chain. The oil pump appeared stuck for us which is what caused the alignment tool to be bumped whilst trying to free the pump. Make sure you put some oil in the pump before installation, it needs some oil for it to mesh properly.
