Summary

This is a 2mm thin plate with a beveled edge and groove to accept Magsafe/Qi2 accessory magnets up to 1.7 mm thick.
The design is in 2 parts to avoid having to use supports, which would either scar the bevel or create a rough groove.

Printing
The bottom plate is 0.3mm thin, to ensure strong magnetism, so a 0.1mm height profile is recommended. I set a 0.2mm bottom layer then 0.1mm thereafter.

Requirements

• Isopropyl alcohol
• Epoxy resin
• Thin double-sided tape (eg. device repair tape)
• Magsafe/Qi2 accessory magnets
  Note: Do not buy phone or case magnets as these will not work. Magsafe magnets are arranged in a Halbach Array which cannot be simply reversed. In my case, I disassembled an old magsafe accessory and reused the magnets.

Assembly

1. Clean all parts with isopropyl alcohol for adhesive surface preparation
2. Use a thin layer of epoxy to attach the bezel to the body.
3. Apply epoxy in the groove and place the magnets, being careful to maintain the exact magnet order and direction.
4. Fill the remaining groove with epoxy and let it cure.
5. Apply double sided tape to attach it to your accessory.
