I don't like leaving roof rack mounts on my roof racks as I have a variety of different ones and if I'm kayaking by myself I prefer the Yakima adaptors I have for a single kayak setup. So where to store the Thule Compass rack when it's not in use? I made a rack for it. Nice and small so it isn't too obtrusive and it does the job nicely with no flex to worry about.

Originally I was thinking something to hold the tubular arm, but the bar clamps stuck out further and then I figured the strap retainers are pretty solid so I measured up the gaps and rendered something with a bit of vertical support in it to prevent flexing and keep everything pointing where it should. The photos are just my trial set up - I still need to print the second holder and then I'll screw these into the garage wall somewhere convenient.
